To obtain a copy of The Jones Foundation’s Grant Application Form
, please download it from this web site and send it to us with all supplemental information that is required. You can also call (202) 797-6720 and we will send one to you. We only accept grants that are completed on our grant application form, no reproductions or recreations will be accepted. Applications and all corresponding materials are due by May 31st. (If May 31 falls on a weekend or holiday, applications will be accepted the next business day.)
All applicants will receive an acknowledgment email upon receipt of their application in the Jones Foundation's offices.
After Submission
Applications are first reviewed to determine if they fall within The Foundation's mission, guidelines and program priorities. Those that do not are declined and your organization will be notified of the Board's decision.
When an application is considered appropriate for funding and falls within The Foundation's current areas of interest, the applicant will be invited to submit a formal written proposal. Since The Jones Foundation receives more proposals than it can fund, this request should not be interpreted as an indication of likely support.
The Board may request additional information from applicants and may also consult with persons knowledgeable about the proposed activities. Suggestions as to who might be qualified to assist the Board in its review may be included in the proposal.
The Review Process
The Foundation's Board of Directors usually makes final decisions on proposals in the month of November. Awarded grants will be funded no later than December 31st. Grantees will be required to sign a Grant Agreement specifying reporting requirements and receipt of the grant.
The Foundation principally supports locally based projects and initiatives with measurable and tangible objectives. Funding will only be provided to entities organized and operated exclusively for charitable, religious, scientific or educational purposes, which have qualified under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation tends not to support basic research, scholarships, endowment funds, publications, films, events, construction or the acquisition of buildings.
The grant review process is conducted by the Board of Directors, based upon an evaluation of project proposals. Solicitation of individual members of the Board of Directors by potential recipients for specific Jones Foundation requests is discouraged. Even though a project meets established criteria, it may not be funded because of limited resources or other priorities. The Board of Directors shall make the final decisions on all grants.
The Foundation will not consider grant proposals that have not been through the required steps outlined above.
